On March 17th, 1948, the first Hells Angels Motorcycle Club was founded in the Fontana/San Bernardino area in the United States of America. Around the same time, various other motorcycle clubs were established throughout California, but none were associated with the Hells Angels or each other. While most of these clubs have since disbanded, the Berdoo charter in San Bernardino remains active. During the 1950s, more Hells Angels charters were created, initially operating independently from one another. However, over time, they united and established a regular criteria for membership. What began as a Californian phenomenon became an international movement in 1961 when the first charter outside California was adopted, intriguingly located in Auckland, New Zealand. Throughout the 1960s, the Hells Angels expanded their presence to the East Coast of the USA and later to the Midwest, where the demand for Hells Angels merchandise and HA support gear began to grow. Today, there are more than 275 charters in Europe alone, including the well-known Hells Angels East Toronto. By the end of the Seventies, Australian clubs gained membership, and in 1984, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, became the first South American charter. In 1993, the Hells Angels expanded into Africa with a charter established in Johannesburg, South Africa. The new millennium saw Eastern Europe welcome its own Hells Angels charter, further establishing the legendary winged Death Head across the continent. The admission of clubs worldwide led to significant changes in the structure of the Hells Angels. What began as a small motorcycle club from Berdoo has evolved into the HELLS ANGELS MOTORCYCLE CLUB WORLD, the largest motorcycle brotherhood globally. Today, Hells Angels MC World includes charters across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia, offering various HA merchandise and HA support gear for those who want to show their affiliation with the club.
